Andrew
The theme of this weeks sermon will be Andrew, the disciple of Jesus, after whom the church is named. He is a disciple who largely stays in the background. However, John's Gospel tells of three incidents which involve Andrew.
(1) The first shows that he started out as a disciple of John the Baptist who introduced him to Jesus and he went off to tell his brother Simon Peter about Jesus.
(2) The second concerned the Feeding of the 5,000. It was Andrew who brought forward to Jesus the boy who had five barley loaves and two small fish. It was a small amount, but Jesus was able to use it to the benefit of those present and to the glory of God.
(3) The third involves Greeks who wanted to see Jesus. They initially approached Philip who brought them to Andrew who told Jesus.
