We really value our young people here at St Andrew’s, and we’re delighted to have so many youth organisations affiliated with the Church. Any Church should be a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel welcomed and loved, a bit like an extended family. We hope that’s the case in our Church, and we strive to make our worship and our faith as accessible as possible to young people. We also seek to involve our young people in practical ways as a means of developing their own gifts, whether through our Technical Team or in some other capacity. I was given the opportunity and encouragement to start preaching as a teenager, and my vision is to see other young people being given the same chances to develop their gifts and their leadership capacity. The apostle Paul wrote these words to a young Church leader called Timothy in the New Testament, and they sum up our attitude to young people here in St Andrew’s: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).
