Venture Trust
The Venture Trust offer a free counselling service for veterans in the Greater Glasgow area, offering one-to-one support in accessible green spaces, improving mental health, reducing isolation and strengthening pathways back into wider community.
This service is designed for veterans who have struggled to access or remain engaged with indoor therapy. The outdoor setting reduces the pressure of traditional clinical environments, helping many veterans to engage more openly and consistently.
Qualified counsellors will meet veterans in outdoor locations such as parks, woodlands and riverside paths, with spaces chosen together to support comfort and create a sense of safety and control. Sessions will take place weekly or fortnightly and follow a structured therapeutic pathway, including assessment, goal-setting, clinical support, review and a planned ending.
Using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches, counsellors will support veterans to process difficult experiences, regulate emotions and develop practical coping strategies.
Through this work, veterans can improve their mental wellbeing, build confidence, reduce isolation and strengthen connections with others, with clearer pathways into ongoing support and community life.
Venture Trust has a long and well-established history of supporting veterans across Scotland, built through more than a decade of specialist programmes designed to respond to the complex circumstances many face after leaving the Armed Forces. This service will support veterans experiencing poor mental health, trauma, isolation or challenges adjusting to civilian life, including Early Service Leavers, longer-serving veterans, LGBTQI+ veterans, and, where appropriate, spouses or families.
