Church of Scotland National Day of Prayer
The Church of Scotland are calling for congregations and members to take part in a national Day of Prayer on Saturday 29th November.
The Day of Prayer has been planned as a way to console Church members after the difficulties of recent years, and through praying together to inspire renewal throughout the Church. You can find a wide range of materials on this page.
Throughout Biblical history—and even in our own national story—times of transition and pain have often led people to gather for worship and prayer. In recent years, challenges like COVID, Mission Planning, and Presbytery Reform have had a significant impact on each of us, not all experiencing them in exactly the same way.
In response, and as a result of our sense of God's leading of us, we are calling the church to prayer—a time to come together locally and acknowledge, as God's children together, our shared need of God's comfort, God's strength, and God's help. There is wisdom in seeking God as a united body, through worship and prayer. The Bible brings alive the power and blessing of us as the people of God coming together.
Our time together will give us space for individuals and congregations to join in worship, to encounter God amid their pain and loss, and could be a significant part of the mourning and healing process we need right now. It will also offer an opportunity to prepare our hearts for the greater future we believe God is leading us toward.
You can sign up online to commit to praying during a particular hour of the day.
